Prayer Mobilization
Prayer and the Ethiopian Church
It is not false to say The Ethiopian Church is birthed out of prayer. As evangelical believers we count our 100+ years of story and the first half of our story was mainly focused on foreign missionaries playing a key role and training few leaders, but once the Derg regime takes power and all western missionaries were forced to leave the country a new era was beginning for the church that the indigenous church leaders relay on prayer and Gods direction to lead the church during oppression of the communist rule. In the midst of adversity the church was flourishing, gathering in church halls was forbidden as a result many house churches were established, prayer in these gatherings were the key programs as a result many came to believe in Christ not only that a new wave of Holy Spirit revival visited the church and the rest is history. When the Derg regime falls and the church was allowed to gather in Halls the number before the regime take power exceeds 10 folds. Prayer and the Holy Spirit revival brought a new generation and evangelical believers and the church's mark was written in tears and blood.
This program has devised key strategic areas to implement its plan of producing strong and viable prayer movements that will impact mission work and missionary sending in Ethiopia.
Raising Prayer Cores
The foundation of prayer for transformation and Mission resides with the Prayer Core. Like a nuclear generator, it is where the 'heat,' motivation, and vision reside. The Prayer Cores are made of individuals who have a strong desire to see the Kingdom of God manifested among the unreached people group and who are willing to intercede for missionaries to be sent out and for the heart of people to be open to God's message of salivation. They are prayer warriors but they are not lonely fighting themselves but rally local churches and campuses behind them to join them in interceding for an unreached people group, missionaries on the field, and shift of Ethiopian church to sending nation.
Prayer Mobilization Teaching and Training
We must answer the question so that we can part in God's work. Why do we need to pray, what does the bible commands us to pray, how can we pray for the unreached, missionaries, and the awakening of the Ethiopian church also what has been the impact of prayer in Global mission?
Hosting Prayer Summits
This is one way of mobilizing the body of Christ to pray for the mission. An overnight prayer program, weekend prayer gathering, and prayer chain for people groups are among what we can do.
Developing Support Tools and Documents
We need to have data's and information well prepared so that churches, campuses, and even families can access them when they gather for prayer. Building a strong database of unreached people groups in different forms is essential.
